Facebook is often attributed with a decline in socialization, and studies have shown that people spend more of their time online than ever before. Instead of talking to friends, people often choose to spend their time reading about what their friends have done. In addition, many people use online messengers instead of placing phone calls. As a result, many believe that Facebook is causing people to become more isolated and insular.

This view, however, is often disputed. Facebook allows people to remain in contact with more people than they could in the past, and the platform’s success is based on its ability to help people communicated. Studies have shown that people spend less time on their phones, but they have not demonstrated that people spend less time with each other. Some even speculate that Facebook has led to people spending more time with their friends and family members since it helps them coordinate their activities.
