Update – Looks like someone from WhatsApp team has updated on this situation.

Unfortunately due to technical issues, we have chosen to un-publish WhatsApp Messenger on the Windows Phone platform. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve the issues and hope to return to the store shortly. We apologize to our users for the temporary inconvenience.

No one really knows for how long WhatsApp will remain removed from the Windows Phone Store so in the mean time you can consider installing WhatsApp for PC if you wish to use it and don’t have it already installed on your devices.

To many people’s surprise, WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messaging app was taken down from the Windows Phone Store. Both WhatsApp and Microsoft haven’t provided any reason yet which caused this removal. At the moment, when you search the app on your Windows phone, you won’t find any results. Although WhatsApp listing can still be seen on Windows Phone Store at the moment but there is a clear messaging which suggests that – This app is no longer published; which means you cannot install WhatsApp on your Windows devices.

While there is no clear explanation as to why WhatsApp was pulled down but according to developer reviews, WhatsApp was really buggy and known to malfunction in Windows Phone 8.1 which is expected to release on June 24. So perhaps WhatsApp decided to pull down the app temporarily till they release an update. We will keep you updated on this as soon as we get an update.

As far as existing users are concerned who have the app installed already, they need not worry about this as WhatsApp is functioning properly on their devices.
