More and more businesses are using Youtube in order to market their products and services. However, it’s not enough to merely post hundreds of videos and hope for mass traffic. Don’t overstuff your tags or description with keywords; adding the relevant keywords once is sufficient. Youtube also allows you the ability to “geo tag” your video during submission. You can enter the location of where you video was shot (in this case Minneapolis) in order to add relevancy. However, optimization by itself is not enough; in order to rank well you will need to build some backlinks to your video.

The easiest no brainer ways to build a few links to your Youtube videos is to bookmark them. It only takes a few minutes to create an account on the major social media sites such as Digg, Reddit and StumbleUpon. Make sure to write a title utilizing your keywords and write a detailed description of the link.

In addition you can also link back to your video using anchor text (this is the keyword you want rank for). It’s important to make sure to mix up your anchor text when creating backlinks. Another way to build backlinks is by blog commenting. Make sure to write a relevant comment (don’t spam) and link back to your video with anchor text if possible.
Post Videos That Are Unique and Compelling
If you post something that is special and unique you have a better chance of going viral. Surfers are likely to share videos that they enjoy watching with their friends. It’s more effective to post one unique and worthwhile video than a bunch of less stallar ones.
