How to control volume via terminal in Ubuntu

 

As you know you don’t need any Drivers for Audio in Ubuntu OS,but the fact that many doesn’t know is you can install own sound-card and change the Master volumes for MIC,Headphone,Line etc via terminal.The Good thing is you don’t need to install a software for this,it is a default software which comes with Ubuntu .

Type this in your Terminal

$ alsamixer

This software loads inside the terminal so you can control everything via keyboard.(see the screenshots)

To select a Sound card press F6
